Fine Art Engraving

 Studio Tour

Ray's personal engraving bench. It is a horseshoe wrap around design that puts all the needed tools at arms reach. Everything from computer and drawing surface for design to torches and drawplates are right at hand.

Here are two student workspaces that are behind the main bench. These are complete workstations with all tooling and storage space. Cameras and monitors allow Ray to watch students work during classes.

All of the vise stands on this side of the room are turntable stands with gas lift height adjustment.

The opposing corner of the room has the desk and drawing tables.  Much of the preplanning and drawing of initial designs occur here.

This is the student workspace at the far end of the room. Two more full stations are set up on this bench.  The popular drill press base stands are used for vise stands.

This is the portable set up Ray uses when he travels to shows or events.  It is set up as a student station at the end of the drawing tables.

This is grinder bench near the center of the room.  Ray also has his bead blasting cabinet set up here.  Behind this bench are both compressors.  A small Novair silent compressor that is used when it is just Ray cutting and a large twin head Ohmeda dental compressor with a 30 gal. tank that is used to supply a whole class.  On the top shelf of this bench are a Gerstner chest with class tools, an ultrasonic cleaner, and a toaster oven used for various processes that require heat.  At the end of the bench on the right is the rolling mill used to size gold sheet and make wire.
